C2 66 Coupe- Drip Rail / Hinge Pillar finish

When I dissassembled my 66 from the birdcage the area at the front bottom of the drip rail where it meets the hinge pillar fiber glass was filled with painted soft black putty. Is this the correct way to reassemble it? Pictures would be worth a thousand words.

    Thanks
    Greg

GM used many sealers, adhesives, etc per the AIM, in the assy of these cars. If the area is to be painted then I would use the 2 part 3M seam sealer available at auto paint stores for this application. It is designed for this purpose and is paintable. You'll need it around the windshield body seam for sure ..... and lots of other places.
Don't worry about color as it will be painted anyway.
