Any of you know the exact date of #1 coming off the line in Flint. I know it is June 1953, and I thought June 20, but then I began to wonder. Any help guys? I'm looking for the date of the photo of Tony Kleiber driving #1 off the line.

I have an old copy of "Corvette Quarterly", Summer 1994, that I kept because of the story. Nina Padgett's article says "The first Corvettes rolled off the assembly line at the Flint plant on June 30, 1953".

Correct.

The first day is June 30, same as my wedding anniversary (but 37 years later).

Terry, Noland says Job #1 was completed on June 29th,53.(monday) The big announcement, "starting Corvette production", was to be made on the next day , June 30th, the last day of the month.Official photo's of #1 being driven off the line,#2 having final touches added, and #3 about to have the body dropped onto it's chassis, was tuesday June 30th.

I thought about the wording once it had been posted... it was 1990.

Took my groomsmen for a tour of the Callaway facility, as my wife is from Connecticut and we were married there. Very interesting!

Terry; I have a ORIGINAL "CENTRAL OFFICE", "CHEVROLET PUBLIC RELATIONS" photo of the first corvettes---------- on the bottom(part of the photo) it says (among other things) that "Production began on June 30, 1953". For what's worth ART #14981
