    i have a 72, 454 air car with "W" vin with a ce 454 block dated d-3-72
    the pad has ce361394 stamped in the pad, looking for more information on the ce361394

      Well, as you probably already know, this means that it's a replacement engine. Also, it's a GM-sourced replacement engine, not a rebuilt or used unit. Beyond that, the numbers don't provide any information which would be particularly meaningful or important.

          All the CE361394 tells you is that it was produced in calendar year 1973, and it was the 11,394th "CE" block produced at Tonawanda (their assigned block of "CE" numbers started at 50,000). No way to determine the "innards" without tearing it down.
