I am spiffing up my '56 and was wondering if I can use wax on my original hubcaps or should I continue to use Wenol? I want to keep them in tip top shape and it is a bit easier to wax them than to polish them,or, is there a better product? They are beautiful and I would like to care for them the best way possible Thanks.

Re: C1 Hubcap Polishing
Not a good idea to use "chrome polish" on ANY chrome (like bumpers) or stainless that's been smack-chromed (and all of it has been); "chrome polish" is an abrasive, and every time you apply it, you're removing some of the clear protective chrome layer that's protecting the shiny nickel underneath (on steel parts that are chromed), and you're removing some of the clear chrome that protects the stainless underneath it on stainless trim and wheel covers. Use WAX, and lots of it, to protect chrome and stainless.
When you see "dull" chrome parts (like bumpers), that's the nickel showing because the chrome has worn off, then the nickel starts to pit and corrode.- Top
