Hello all. Well, at long last, I just got my nice, improved/reconditioned Eaton clutch fan(?)......er,fan clutch, back from Florida! Now, I wanta attach it RIGHT, using nothing but genuine, correct, properly hued hardware. I've got a few WWII wooden ammo boxes full of assorted nuts/bolts/washers, old and new, since the days of my father and grandfather, working in "Gasoline Alley".
So, what color are the nuts/lockwashers attaching the nice clutch studs to the fan. Next, what are the head markings on the nice, zinc plated, grade five bolts which attach the nice clutch-and-fan assembly to the water pump?
I'll let you all know if this refurbished clutch "howls like a banshee" due to the more viscous mineral oil, or whether its silent as a mouse, like the replacement clutch, which allows the engine to boil over if I let it idle continuously, in place, on a 95 degree summer day, for more than 45 minutes at a time. My take, is that it should speak in a voice somewhat between a banshee and a mouse.
Well see!
Joe
