engine compartment wire harness for 66-427

I plan to install a new wire harness in the engine compartment of my 1966 Corvette. Would appreciate if anyone has experience they can share about problems to watch out for. Are there any special tricks for removing connectors on parts like wiper motor or voltage regulator or firewall etc? Should contacts be cleaned with spray cleaner for electronic components? Any type of conductive contact pastes or materials recommended to be applied on contacts before attaching connectors? Thanks for any ideas.

The contacts should be cleaned at all points. The bulkhead connector should be cleaned...this is the area of most problems. All connectors just pull off. I was fortunate in that I had the internal wiring out too and was able to beadblast all the connectors. Made a HUGE difference in light brightness, turn signal flash rate, etc. SAVE your old components!!!

As Steve suggested, save your original components...even the plastic tie straps. The repros are a harder plastic that sometimes won't properly fit into the holes in the inner fenders.

Would you suggest using Diaelectric Grease on the connectors after cleaning?

            Thanks

Why not.... Keeps 'em from corroding.
