C2 side emblem orange color, what shade?

Was surprised not to find any past discussion on the 63/64 side emblem color of orange red for the fluer-de-lis. Does anyone have a color match (shacker can) for this. Put nice NOS on then read the JG, checked the originals and yes the JG is correct the color is orange red while the NOS are red.

Even though it will only cost a point or so - that point is important since I will be taking major hits on items I will not change.

    Thanks
    Alan

Alan, I lost two points on my NOS flags at Marlborough. But since then I have picked up some orange 158's that are going on the car in the next day or two. The orange paint of the flag matches the orange paint on my old old NOS fuel injection emblems on the 63. don't know if there is a shaker can or not. I will tell you that today I looked at my car and said that I can see why it lost the points on the flags. They ones on the car are a redish-burgundy color and really look incorrect. By the way the orange is only 1/2 the battle. John

Now for the rest of the story, please

        Thanks John,

Yes, when looking at the FI emblems the difference is amazing. I also notice a small triagle area that needs orange also.
So what other jobs do I face???

Alan, AS far as paint color goes ALL the colors are a different shade on the original 158's except for the black. The orange, blue and white are different shades. The original 158 white is an off white. The repros and GM replacments are a pure white. These color variations are not from aging in the sun either. Course you know the studs on the back of the emblems aren't chromed. Just bare and dark looking. This info on the studs in well known.
Nothing like a nice pair of 158's on a midyear. No comparison to the ones on my car that will be replaced today. You got me in the mood to do it. It's no wonder Bob Gregory dinged my flags at Marlborough. You can learn a lot about your car if he judges your exterior. I most certainly did. Don't forgoet to look for a nice NOS or original nose emblem. Although the current repro is pretty nice. Another hit I took was a one point deduct for a repro roller door. But the repro is excellent and I am satisfied and never plan on changing it. Good luck, John

            Re:And some more info

Thanks for making it an interesting sport.

My past searchs did not yield any info, however just say a June 2, 04 discussion on "63 Emblems" which covers the details! Need to try a different style search in the future.

So the flags on my car now are the 930 and the other NOS set I have are the thin 2000, not used on corvettes! Will do a little cleaning of the originals.
            Thanks everyone
            Alan
