C3 Air Filters A329CW vs A212CW

The 70-72 Judging Manual says that either the A329CW or the A212CW air filters are correct but give limited information as to why two different filters. Can others share ie Joe Lucia or 70-72 judges share what the differences are in the filters, which came first & when did the change take place.

Also, I've seen boxes that have the CW on the box, but the filter has only the 'C' after the number.... is this also an issue... ie A329C vs A329CW?

...the A 329 C is the smaller element that fit the enclosed type air filter. It was used up to about Feb of '74 where it was replaced with the "taller" A 348 C. The A 212 CW was the filter for the "open" element design with just the lid and base.

The "W" stands for an oil wetted paper element, generally "yellowish" in color. The "C" only version is sans the oil wetted process, I don't believe the Corvette used any other than the oil-wetted configuration.
