67 with VIN 107383, your engine is on eBay

There is a Willy's with your 427 / 435 that is for sale on ebay. If someone knows the owner of this car I am sure they would be interested.

Sorry, do not have the auction number off hand.

If I might ask. How can you tell that specific engine belongs to that specific VIN? My original 327 is not in my '66. Can the 327 blocks be traced back to their VIN's too?

          Dennis -

The "JA" suffix identifies it as a Corvette 427/435, and the VIN derivative stamp identifies it to that particular '67 Corvette. All Corvette blocks from mid-'60 on have that car's VIN derivative stamped on the front pad, adjacent to the engine plant machine stamp.

It would be interesting to see if #7383 currently has a matching numbers engine...

Corvette is a pristine example of the hand full that are still in existence today. Numbers matching. I have the names, phone numbers and addresses documenting previous owners that confirm its a real 427/400hp Factory A/C Powerglide dating back to 1968. I've spoken to the previous owners and collected the history on this car. The original Corvette Order Copy (tank sheet) is still glued on the original fuel tank stored and boxed in a climate controlled room. Delivered new to Looney Chevrolet in Kingsport, Tennessee and spent most of its years in Indiana and Kentucky. This car retains its original Trim Tag and Vin Tag as per NCRS 1967 team leader inspection at the 2005 Orlando Regional meet where it received a prestigious Top Flight award. The paint job on this car is breathtaking. Original body panels. No rust frame. All options and gauges work. Restoration photos, judging sheets, and awards and receipts included with car.

Still a real car just not the factory installed motor, it's in a Willy's! LOL Ain't the internet amazing. As far as passing NCRS I think at this point it's a given, it can, has and is being done this one was easier because of doucmentation. But if these guys can get a stamp pad good enough to fool everybody I guess they could come up with a old original tank with a counterfeit sticker and paperwork. Names address and phone numbers might be harder to fake.

Well, they are all real cars, even '63s with 427s or 396s, '57s with 383s, and so on.

But this one, one group says is a 400 hp, a different guy has its 435 hp engine. Something is not right somewhere.

Of course, the reason that 435 hp showed up in a Willys could be that it was a bad restamp 10 years ago and was sent off to the swap meet world for a non-Corvette to use.
