What is the greenish-yellow primer originally applied to the windshield frame/dash frame/cowl sections of the '65. Is it zinc chromate? Whatever it is, is it available.

Dupont 215S Acrylic Primer is a highly corrosion-resistant acrylic lacquer type primer for use under standard refinshing systems, especially in critical areas, to prevent rusting. This is right off the 13oz can. It is available at automotive paint stores that deal in Dupont paints. When I replaced the windshield header in my car this is what I was told to use first followed by another primer and paint. The Dupont 215S is a light greenish color. It is probably the most expensive can a spay primer you will ever buy. -

I think that the product that Jim suggested is the best one to use. However, the original paint used was, indeed, zinc chromate primer. This paint is quite toxic and I've heard that it's manufacture and/or sale might be restricted, but it seems like I've seen it for sale in some hardware stores.In Appreciation of John HinckleyComment

If you really want to use Zinc Chromate, I bought a quart from Quanta in February. I believe they still have it. It is sold for professional use only!
Be advised, it is bad stuff to inhale. Proper ventilation and respirator are a must! You would be better off if you could use an immitation, like the ones suggested above.
