I just received a reproduction teak steering for my '67 (I know that's not authentic, but I don't like plastic; I'll keep the plastic wheel stored away.) The finish on the reproduction wood is very dull. It seems I remember that the finish on the teak wheel on my departed '66 (original equipment) was at least satiny, if not glossy. Should I polyurethane it? Satin or glossy? Or is my memory bad? Thank you.

Re: C2 teak steering wheel
Per Eric Freeman (yesterday):
"The teak is sealed with clear shellac, then topcoated with clear satin polyurethane. If finish is worn, hand-sand the worn area with extra-fine sandpaper, wipe on some clear shellac, rub the dried shellac with 3M Scotchbrite pad, then spray clear satin polyurethane from a spray can over the repaired area."- Top
