My car is a '60 with a 70's-era 350 currently installed. After reading of others with the same oil leak problem (drips from oil pan and bellhousing inspection cover), I considered many sources for the leak. However, recently I had my wife start the car for some reason, while I was looking under the hood, and saw a drip come from the flange the oil filter screws into/under. So it appears that there's a problem in that vicinity. I'm using the correct filter, and the surface of the flange does not appear to have any surface defects or damage. Anyone had a similar problem, perhaps due to a warping of the flange surface?

Re: C1 NOM oil filter leak
Check that you have only one O-ring between the filter and its housing. Often when an O-ring has been compressed in that place for a period of time it will flatten and almost appear to be part of the housing and thus it is overlooked and not removed at filter change time. When the new O-ring is installed on top of the old leaks can occur.- Top

Re: C1 NOM oil filter leak
I had a similar problem with an oil filter leak that turned out to be a faulty filter gasket. Remove the old filter, clean the flange surface, and install a new filter. Before installing the new filter, coat the new filter gasket with clean engine oil to ensure a good seal.- Top
