    57 or 58 Transmission

Is it possible for a March 25, "58 Vette" to have an August 26, "57 Vette" transmission and still be original? WM2672 Everything under the car looks original including the grease & dirt.

    Re: 57 or 58 Transmission

WM2672 Translates to W=Warner Gear, M=December(letter I not used in this case), 26= the 26th day of the month, 7=1957, 2= second shift.

This would put your transmission more within a plausible time frame. A late December '57 produced transmission would have found it's way into a '58 model year car.

I think your confusion is resulting from reading the "Pocket Spec Guide" Calendar Month Codes chart which shows M as August. If you read a little more thoroughly you will find that the chart applies to '67 Powerglides. Two headings below the chart is the explanation of the Warner 4-speed code break down.
