    63 dash

I just painted the dash pads and the dash, which is covered with vinal.
I used the "Vinal paint" from Paragon. Came out beautiful. Paint stayed on w/o lifting etc, so my cleaning and priming process must have been right on (use methods previously posted here)
The finish is very shiney, what I would call: "full gloss". It is way more shiney compared to my restored (by others) dash cluster and glove box door. (They are actually almost dull)
My question: Was the original dash pads and dash vinal full gloss or semi-gloss ? If it is too glossy, could I paint over the "vinal" paint with semi-gloss ? (Deere blitz black, Krylon)
I hope it's suppose to be glossy, it looks good...

Rainer, My 63 red dash vinyl is original. It's not very glossy. Semi-flat or a tad shinier at best. John

Thanks, John. I will experiment with my now old, spare dash pads ( The pads I am installing were furbished replacement pads, which were better, my original ones were cracked and wavey).
I will do the same with my spares, as I did with the ones now in my car. Then, I will paint over the glossy vinal paint with John Deere blitz black, which I find has a moderate sheen, a bit more than the Krylon, which is more like Satin, a little too flat for me.
Hope the different product is not going to lift etc....
If it works, I will do the same with my installed pads and suround dash.

        Rainer,

You can buy vinyl dye by the pint, quart or gallon if you want from most paint jobbers. They will flatten it by any percentage you ask for too. Not sure I would go with the John Deer paint over a vinyl part. I think the vinyl dye has some estomeric properties to prevent cracking.

          Tracy,
I also had my second though about using the the Blitz Black on top of the dye I used, for the same reason mentioned by you.
I definately have to do the dash area over again, its way too glossy.
I will contact Paragon about the Vinyl Dye which I used, to get the paint specs, so that I can have my paint supplier mix-up a compatible batch for an additional coat whith the appropriate sheen. Hopefully, the other dye I will use, does not clash with what I used. Should not, but one never knows, when using different products...
          Thanks for your advise.
