    Carb/Engine built date '65 Corvette

    Hello,

the engine of my '65 Corvette #48 (300hp, manual transmission) was built on 8th. of August '64 (F0808HF). I'm looking for a date coded Carter AFB 3721 SB. The potential carbs I've found have the following date codes:
    - F4/JUNE
    - H4/AUGUST
Does the engine built date also include the installation of the carb? Would the second carb be correct since there're are only 4 days between production of carb and assembly of engine? To me the first one seems the better choice, since it predates the engine 2 months and is within a 3 months time frame - thus no doubts.

    Regards
    Oliver

uups, I was wrong with deciphering of the carb code:
H4/AUGUST means August '64 and not an exact day. Nevertheless, my previous question remains, if this carb is correct with regard to matching # or if the F4/June is 'better'.

    Regards
    Oliver

      Hi Oliver,
The carb was installed at the St. Louis assembly plant. What you need to look at is the build date on the trim tag. There was a picture of the trim tag for a 65 convert body #S64 and it had a build date of K28 in the Vol 11 # 4 of the NCRS Restorer. Some of the early 1965 cars had some trim tags that are a little different than most are used to seeing.
Yours might be around K27 or K28 which would be July 27 or 28. The August 64 AFB Carb would be cutting it too close in my opinion. With the 6 month window that NCRS allows, I would go with the June carb. It looks to me that it would be a great date for your car. Wondow if you could post the build date and body number for your very early car.

        Page,

according to www.c2registry.org the build date was 26th. August 1964. On the trim tag it is stated 'A26', too.
