    carb and manifold id

My 70 L-46 currently has an aluminum high rise manifold and Holley carb on it. The carb has an id on it that reads LIST-6619-1. Below that another number 0118. The manifold has a logo of some sort located between the thermostat housing and the front of the carb on the drivers side. There is a W surrounded by six, what I can best describe as stick figure christmas trees or for you cookie lovers, the Oreo logo. Kind of a T with an extra cross in it. the whole logo is only about the size of a quarter. I'm interested in learning the model and cfm of the carb, rebuild parts still available, etc... and the brand of the manifold. As always, thanks for the replys.

6619-1 holley is a 600 CFM aftermarket carb for 1970-72 chevy/gmc truck. manifold sounds like a stock chevy from the logo, which looks like winters foundry logo.

Thanks Motorman. If the manifold is a factory production piece, what would the application have been, i.e. hi-perf in all Chevy's?

Bill, In the late 70s Holley changed it's date code from 3 didgits to 4. Your date on the Holley, 0118 is; 0- either 1980 or 1990, 11- 11th month(Nov.) ,and 8th day. Not 100% sure of this, and would welcome the correction ( could also be julian date,11th day of the year 1978 or 1988) Sounds like you have an L-T1 or LS-6 intake manifold with "snowflake" Winters foundry mark. Your original car came with a Rochester Carb and a cast iron intake.

          Bob-----

I hope he doesn't have an LS-6 manifold on that L-46; installing one of those on an L-46 can cause a HUGE vacuum leak!

All kidding aside, the fact that your manifold has the Winters Foundry casting symbol pretty much assures you that what you have is a GM-sourced manifold. For many years, Winters Foundry provided low volume aluminum castings to Chevrolet and they did not sell manifolds directly into the aftermarket. However, your manifold could be one of several that were used during the 62-72 period that would accomodate a Holley carburetor. These would include:

3799349, 3795397, 3794129, 3844461, 3890490, 3972110, or 3959594. Most likely, it's one of the latter two casting numbers. It's also possible, though, that it is a later GM Performance Parts SERVICE manifold. Many of these were also cast by Winters, but may have other casting numbers.

Anyway, check yours for casting number and let us know what you find.

most factory manifolds had a casting number.
