Is there a (DIY) way to re-grain a c-1 steering wheel? I have a steering wheel that is in good condition except for the grain and I Would like to restore it and use it on my car. Thanks, Jimmy

One way to achieve texture on a C1 wheel is to get a aerosol can of "chip guard" that is sometimes sprayed on the lower body panels of cars. The trick is that you have to spray it on the wheel from 2 to 5 feet away so it dries some before hitting the wheel. The wheel can then be painted, but paint it lightly or the texture will start to smooth out. A coat of clear can be added if necessary.. -

The spray is called "Rocker Panel Spray" and is 3M part # 05910 and can be purchased at any of your finer auto parts stores.Comment
