I don't know what you mean by "removed". However, no 1966 big block application that I am aware of used a radiator supply tank. Big blocks that used a radiator supply tank were as follows:
1) All 1965 with L-78
2) 1967 with L-88
3) 1968 with L-88
4) All 1969-72In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Overflow Tank Bracket
Joe,
What I mean is, was the engine conpartment different for big block vs small blocks re this application? If the car was going to be a big block, would this bracket be removed from the engine compartment or would it not even had been installed? Hope that helps?- Top

Re: Overflow Tank Bracket

For all Corvettes with supply tank, the bracket is always installed (or, not installed) at St. Louis depending upon the application. For 1968-72 Corvettes there was no difference in the inner fender panel (where the bracket is attached) for either cars with supply tanks or those without supply tanks. There were "dimples" which were drilled out for the bracket retaining rivets when a supply tank application was involved. I'm not 100% sure that the inner panel was the same regardless of supply tank usage for 1966 and 1967 cars, but I'm pretty sure it was.
All 1963-65 Corvettes used the external supply tank since there were no cars built during those years that did not use the aluminum radiator. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

'65-'67 Corvettes used the same inner fenders regardless of engine size during each year; the passenger side inner fender had the four rivet holes for the expansion tank bracket pre-drilled by the inner fender panel supplier, and on BB cars that didn't use the tank, the holes were filled with bond material when the body was assembled.- Top
