BIg Block Aluminum Component Casting Dates

Where are the casting dates on big block aluminum components, like intake and heads, and are they stamped or cast?

I was under the impression that intakes, for example, had a casting date which was cast at the foundry, not stamped, and visable rom above...but I am told the components cast by Winters foundry have a date stamped on bottom and no casting date on top.

I also thought cast iron heads had a casting date cast at foundry and visable from above with valve cover removed...what about the Winters aluminum heads? If it is year specific what about 1968-69? Thanks again.

They are cast, and generally are located in places not viewable without disassembly, The Aluminum Heads do have a casting date in the Rocker area, all years. The Intakes are generally dated on the bottom of the manifold.

Yes, and are visible with a mirrror after ....

the intake is removed. At least this is the case with "842" heads.
