Hey Joe:

what can you tell me abou the GM# 468228 which is the power brake booster pipe that goes to the carb port on a 78? GM# 17056236 is the filter that hooks up to it. Couldn't get it to loosen from the carb when removing so I destoyed it.

I can tell you that GM #468228 was never available in SERVICE. This is one of those PRODUCTION-only parts like brake lines and fuel lines that GM never saw fit to offer as SERVICE parts and, instead, simply advised those requiring such parts to "fabricate from stock". Curiously, the similar (but not interchangeable) line used for 1982 Corvettes was once available in SERVICE, but was discontinued almost 10 years ago.

As far as the filter goes, the GM #17056236 filter was never available in SERVICE, either. At least, it was not available in SERVICE under that part number. It was and remains available in SERVICE under GM #17070814. I don't know how this filter differs, if at all, from the 17056236. My strong suspicion is that it's just a matter of how it's supplied (i.e. perhaps with another part or two and/or instructions). Of course, the 17070814 which is supplied today may well vary in more ways from the originals than those 17070814 available in 1978. At that time, I strongly suspect that the PRODUCTION 17056236 and SERVICE 17070814 were identical.
