Mother Lode Corvettes made First Place in the yearly Mother Lode Roundup Parade in Sonora, CA with 24 Corvettes ranging in years from a 2006 Z06 to a repro body 66. Only 2 C-2's in it, my 67 was the other one.
Entry 143 out of 164, the parade was over 2 hours long on a one mile parade route through downtown Sonora. It wasn't all cars, lots of horses, bands and civic groups. Probably one of the longest parades in California for Mother's Day (the day before) and the cowboy rodeo which follows it.
Here's a few pictures:
They saved the best for last, here's my 67, the only NCRS car in the group.
Actually, they made me last as I was a little afraid of the clutch as the last quarter mile is uphill, and stop and go after one half hour idling. But I only hit 195 on the thermo and the clutch held out, but a little spongy at the end.
I really felt sorry for all the newer models, as they had to dodge all the horseplop piles and plowed the way for me, even though I didn't need it.
Here's a shot of me and and my grandson co-pilot, getting ready in the staging area:
Suposedly we were dressed as 60's teenagers, and after 4 hours wait we got in line with the group. But the wait was worth it, I had a blast, and got to show off a few NCRS ribbons.
Having fun,
