I ordered and received a 1969 reproduction sales brochure from Corvette Central. There is a table toward the back showing engine and axle options. The table shows that all the 427 models including the 390HP L36, 400HP L68 and the L71 435HP with a Turbo Hydra Matic tranny all were not available with A/C. Is that correct? I thought the 390 and 400 HPs with auto tran could get AC as an option.

I am familiar with the brochure and table you are referring to. I believe that the reference to the L-36 and L-68 with Turbo-Hydramatic not being available with air conditioning is an error. The L-36 and L-68 were, officially, not available with air conditioning when the M-21 close ratio 4 speed was ordered. However, I am virtually certain that either engine could be ordered with Turbo-Hydramatic and air conditioning. I would not even be surprised if some cars with L-36 or L-68 and M-21 were ordered and delivered with air conditioning even though it was, officially not available. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
