I know that original shocks are hard to find . Does anyone make repodutions of the originals or what do they use when original shocks can not be found. I looking to have this car judged when I'm done.

Re: 66 shocks?
GM still has the shocks that are similar in appearance to the originals, don't have any part numbers available but look in the archives and you'll find them. Or you can go down to your local Pep Boys and buy a set of Gabriel shocks for less than $10 each, take the decals off, spray paint them machine grey, put on a set of the correct decals and you'll have a nice set for around $50. I read recently on one of the other boards that GM doesn't actually make the shocks anymore and they are made by Gabriel and other manufacturers and sold under the Delco brand.

Bryan and Robert----
Yes, GM hasn't made any shocks since they spun-off DELPHI more than 10 years ago. DELPHI continued to manufacture the shocks for GM, essentially as originally configured, until about 5 years ago. Current GM/Delco replacement shocks are manufactured by other companies like Monroe (Federal-Mogul) or Gabriel (Arvin-Meritor). The current Declo shocks for 63-82 Corvettes are 530-315, front, and 530-4, rear.
Some of the current Monroe or Gabriel shocks are probably identical to the current Delco offerings. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 66 shocks?
that is true, when you buy the Delco shocks one is just paying for the name! as you can get the same shock made by Gabriel as the Delco shock only it will have Gabriel on the sticker and not Delco. why pay more for the name when it is the same shock?- Top

Re: 66 shocks?
Replacement shocks are made in Mexico and carry a decal that says Delco. Peel the decal off and you can't tell what these shocks are.
A couple of guys are working independent of one another on the repro shocks. Don't know when they will be done though. Maybe someone can tell you this.
If you want a set of replacement shocks with the Delco decal I know someone who has them cheap. John- Top

Re: 66 shocks?
Original shocks carried no Delco decal. They had a small broadcast code label. I made my own, don't have dimensions sorry.
