    67 Radiator & Fan - 5 or 7 Blade?

I have a 67 327/300hp Powerglide Automatoc with A/C, power steering, and power brakes. What radiator number and fan blade arrangement is correct for this car? I have a great correct replacement dated (67D)radiator but it is a 3155316, and my fan blade is a seven blade unit numbered 3931002 (913894 K7 is also on it ?). Is this the correct radiator and fan for my car? Thanks.

Kirk -All sb 67s used the 3155316 Al radiator. Since you haven't indicated the VIN or build date of the car I can't tell if the 67D date is appropriate for your car but if the car was built in later April or May/June of 1967, it would be a good choice.

With regards to the fan blade assembly, all the original 67 sb fan blade asemblies for both non-AC and C60 AC Corvettes had 5 blades. The K7 on blade is a production date probably October (10th month) of 1967 or it could be 10 years later, i.e. October of 1977. Whatever the case, the fan blade assembly date if it is October of 1967 is appropriate for a 1968 vehicle not a 67 and not necessarily a Corvette built in later in October, November, or December of 1967.

      Peter,

The NCRS Manual states that big block and A/C cars had a different serial number radiator. Is that not true? Also, just for info my car is 16469 and was built on April 18, so the radiator date is correct for the car. That is what bugs me about it, because it appears the previous owner spent the time and bucks to put a correct dated radiator in the car, but the NCRS manual calls for a different serial number radiator in cars with A/C. Ahh!!

        Kirk -

The '67 JG doesn't call for a different part number radiator with A/C; the difference is small-block (aluminum) vs. big-block (copper/brass). All small-blocks (regardless of transmission type and with or without A/C) used the 3155316 aluminum, and all big-blocks (except L-88) used the copper/brass.

          John,

Is there any reason for the car to have a seven versus five blade fan? Or is that part just "wrong" for my year and engine/option make?

            Kirk -

Who knows what a long chain of previous owners have done over the last 40 years? Nobody worried about "numbers-correct" replacement parts back then - they just wanted it "fixed" so they could drive it, and most Corvettes needed a lot of "fixing".
