    Water Pump

    Hello guys....

The water pump on my '75 is a 330813P. It looks like the date is 5225N. It's hard to tell, but this is what I make out. Is this May 22, 1975?

    Thanks,
    Al

You have the correct waterpump casting. As far as the date goes, I've never seen these pumps with anything other than an alpha character designating the month. Are you sure that first "5" is actually a "5"?

      Hi Joe,

Yes. It sure looks like one. There is a small raised pad right under the part number and on this pad is what looks like 5225N. Is ther a way to post a picture? Can I send it to someone and have them post it?

      Thanks,
      Al

        Al----

I've posted the photo you sent me of the waterpump below.

I believe that the date is as you described. However, this pump has a date coding configuration that would indicate that it was not cast at the Saginaw foundry. I've never seen this sort of date coding used on a Saginaw piece of the 1982 or previous period. So, I suspect that this piece was cast either at some other GM foundry or it was an "outsourced" casting. Just how the numbers decode, I am not sure.

Generally, the piece looks to be old and not a later SERVICE part. So, my guess is that it was a PRODUCTION-utilzed part. Since the 330813 waterpump casting was only used on 72-82 Corvettes and some MD/HD trucks, I'd say that there's a very good chance that it originally resided on a Corvette.

Sounds good, Joe. Thanks for your help. I will rebuild it and put it on.
