    Tires

    Hi Group,
Just got finished rebuilding my engine, installing a Tremec 5 speed, new interior and wire harnesses for my '65 convertible. That 5 speed is sweet. I'm ready to hit the streets now. The question is tires. Anyone have suggestions? I want excellent dry handling; strong side walls; sticky; low noise and comfort if possible. Plan to drive this car a lot. Size I want 215/60 x15. Been looking at Yokohama YK250; BF Goodrich Radial Traction T/A; Dunlop SP 8000 or 9000. If I can get 25000 to 30000 out of these tires is fine.
    Thanks for any insights.

    Jim,

Since no one else has responded to your question....

Do a search of the archives. There have been numerous discussions of tire and wheel sizes and types.

Lots of options if you go with a 215-65-15 tire size. I have seen many mid years with this size but can't comment on the detail related to fit in the wheel wells. Tirerack.com has good information if you want to compare specs a traction ratings.

well for right now I put the set of Yokohamas on mine (68 w/ stock rims) 235/70/15, its a very gummy tire dont come off pavement on to a gravel road too qwick!!
Fills the wheel well up real tight, little inner fender and frame rub lock to lock
        good luck

I think you want 215X70X15 not the 60 series as they will be too short and look a little like a low rider. I had 215X70s on my 66 cpe with repro KOs and they were perfect size with no issues at all. I have 215 60s on the front of my Javelin and will be changing them to either 215 65s or 225 60s to gain a little more diameter so they fill the fenderwells a bit better. As was said the archives are full of tire discussion. GL
