Good day all..I am hoping that someone can tell me how to change the rear glass weatherstripping on my 75 coupe.Some of the books i have read say that they are pop riveted on and others say they are not.Before i just rip the old rubber off i thought i see if anyone can help me out.Thanks

The weatherstrip at the back of the window likes to move out of place for me so use good glue and do the best job you can. It's been awhile but I think their may be a rivet near the bottom.

Earlier C3s (68-72) had a stainless steel weatherstrip retainer (painted GM semi-flat black) that was pop-riveted to the body fiberglass with two rivets, one top and one bottom. Sealer was applied between the fiberglass and the retainer strip before the retainer was installed. Typically, the retainer should not be removed for a simple weatherstrip replacement unless you believe water is leaking through behind the retainer.
The weatherstrip is cemented into the retainer, with the front edge of the weatherstrip fitting into a channel formed on the front edge of the retainer strip. To keep the weatherstrip from moving, I would insure weatherstrip adhesive is applied to the front edge of weatherstrip to secure it inside the channel. A third pop-rivet secures the lower end of the weatherstrip into the door opening below the retainer strip.
I can't say if this information applies to 75s...it should, but there could have been design revisions after 72. These details would be shown in UPC 1 of your AIM about Sheet F18.- Top

I have seen what you describe on the front of the window but the question is about the rear and I have not seen any metal at the rear only what is molded inside the rubber on a 75.

As I said before, what I describe for the coupe rear door glass weatherstrip is correct for 68-72...see the AIM, UPC 1, Sheet F18.
Beyond 72, I have no specific knowledge and the rear weatherstrip retainer (aka molding, rear roof lower, PN 3935508) could have been eliminated. Darn it...if I had a 75 AIM, I could look it up.- Top
