    63 radio speaker

I was checking my original speaker to see if it still works before re-installation. Found, that the the speaker membrane is totally dried-out. Breaks by minimal contact.
I know, speakers are no rocket science, but my question is:
Can the speaker be restored, namely re-using the frame etc and replacing the bad membrane and related items?
When the speaker is mounted, one can only see the bottom, but not the actual membrane.
I will post pictures in a few min.
    Any suggestions ?

Sorry for getting the posts out of sequence.
If you look close on the face pi's, you can see the split in the membrane. I just barely touched it...
    Hope it can be repaired.

Speakers can be re-coned. There are many sources for such work. Do an internet search and you'll likely find plenty. Usually, the material used for re-coning is much better than that used originally. So, you end up with a better sounding and more durable speaker.

I have used Jackson Speaker service in the past, I got them out of "Hemmings" in the "Services" section. An internet search for "Speaker Recone" should provide multiple options.

Thanks Joe and Bill. Did a search, found Jackson and others. Will give Jackson a call.
