    C2 jack repair/stripped 1/2" 5 thread?

    Hello Experienced ones;
    Surely someone has figured a way to replace/repair the traveling large nut on these C2 jacks.
    Have I been in a cave?
    Have not seen anything on this problem, outside of replacing the jack.
    Thanks for your help.

    Depends on how badly damaged your existing lead screw and nut are... Several in our chapter have repaired/restored their Corvette jacks by obtaining 'similar' passenger car sissors jacks from passenger cars of the era (Corvair is quite similar) and 'dissecting' the donor jack to obtain the pieces needed to repair/restore their factory original Corvette jack.

    You're obviously looking at some major labor to drill out existing rivets and then re-install rivets once donor components have been moved into place. Removing existing rust and filling surface pit prior to final paint is also a time consuming chore.

      Ray,

      As Jack mentioned, the mid sixties Corvair Jack are very similar. In fact, I think the only difference may be the saddle that is designed to nest on the frame of the car.

      I'm not completely sure, but with a side by side comparison, you may find it easiler to just swap the saddle from your Corvette Jack onto the Corvair jack and call it good.

        Lost my large nut and screw for my type 1 jack. My type 3 jack was complete, however the screw is about 2 1/2 inches longer so the simple swap was not possible. just had one made at local machine shop for $60, its a special thread.
