    What's this PF-25 worth

What would be a reasonable price to pay for this ebay PF-25 filter? He only does a "buy it now" deal for us foreigners so I'm curious to see what you all think it's worth so that I know if he is in the ball park or not.

From what I gathered from the thread a few days ago about these filters is that this one is wrong for my 69 anyways due to the lack of embossing on the cap end. Even though it's wrong for my car I'd think that it should still receive most of the points allowed for judging...

For some reason I can't copy and paste the link so here is the ebay auction number. 230132708813

    Thanks.

That old rusty filter, I would not give them 25 cents for that thing. I don’t know what all the fuss is over a filter that one could go out and make themselves for a whole lot less and know that it is a good filter!

If I were you, unless it is a 100% perfect NOS part for your car, I'd buy one of the reproductions that are also available these days, (About $15 I believe) and save the extra $$ until just the "right" one comes up.

        Greg-----

This appears to be a non-embossed type PF-25. These usually sell for about $50-100 on eBay. Of course, with any given auction, who knows what some silly folks might do. Are these worth $50 to $100? Not in my opinion.

          Greg,

To answer your question, that is not correct for your car. There were two production line filters for 69 and that one isn't either of them.

          Regards,

          Mark

I think Paragon gets $45. for their repo now. I know where their are some embosed bottom type for $300. the last time I saw him. I would take the hit before I would pay $300. for a one time use part.

              Re: What's this PF-25 worth

Thanks guys. I kinda thought it was wrong for my car but if the price was right I thought it might be worth it for a "next best choice" seeing as a correct one is so expensive!

Guess what his "buy it now" price is for us Canucks... Would you believe $185.00. Sure glad it's only one of those "nice to have but sure don't need" parts!

Yes, I didn't realize that you were asking how much was it worth to you. I thought you were just asking how much this filter was worth to someone "needing" it.

As Mark says, this filter is not correct for any 1969. However, it might get you more points than a reproduction.

That's all I was looking for Joe is just a ballpark on what it would be worth so that I didn't get hosed. If it was reasonable then I'd go for it because even though it is wrong, I too think that it will receive more points than a repro and that was what I was looking at. For $185.00 though I'll gladly take the point hit!

Mark, would you happen to have a pic of each type? I saved the one that Joe posted to my picture file now so it would be nice to see what the other one looked like too.

The non-embossed PF-25 is the same configuration as the embossed, except for the embossment on the bottom. So, that's why I didn't post side views of both---they would be the same. It's the bottom where the differences lie, so I posted pictures of the bottom of both types.

This response is directed more at the PF-25 design variations discussed in the May 21 post.

I have done some research on PF-25 design variations for model years 1969-91. The results were published last year in the CORVETTE RESTORER magazine along with small black and white pictures. I have the original large color photos that I will bring to the 2007 Boston National if anyone wants to see them.
