Does anyone have a recommended procedure for installing the staples in the side window felts and cinching them up to the stainless reveal? Obviously, the staples have to be drawn tightly enough to countersink the exposed portion of the staple below the surfacr of the fuzzy material so the staples do not scratch the glass. My research of the archives and the Restorer library has failed to turn up anything on this.

Re: C1 Side Window Felt Installation
John, It was a slow process, but this worked for me. I first positioned the felt onto the sst and using a right angle scrib, punched through the original holes into the felt. Drill the 2 holes into the felt, insert your staple, and go to the set of holes. Continue the process until all holes are lined up and all holes are drilled. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to secure the staples. ( I used a dremel for the drilling)- Top

Re: C1 Side Window Felt Installation
John: I just removed my staples, which were original and almost broke a pair of needle nose pliers due to the size of the staple. Couldn't bend them up, so had to use a flat screwdriver and work them up that way. Hopefully the new staples will be easier to bend down. Good luck and leave a response after you've completed the job. I'll be tackling it soon enough. Steve- Top

Re: C1 Side Window Felt Installation
Forget the original staples or the replacement stainless steel. They're way too hard. Buy some soft wire from the hardware store. Easy to bend, holds well and you can't tell the difference when installed.- Top
