I use Mehuliar's chrome polish. Should wax be applied over it, or is using the polish every so often enough?

Re: To Wax or Not To Wax (chrome)
I have used just never dull on my '63 for 37 years. I had the bumpers rechromed in 1980. I have never used wax. You have to be very careful with the type of wax you may use since a lot of them have a very fine abrasive in them. The smallest amount of abrasive will ruin the chrome. I just tried Mothers Show Time on my car including the bumpers and it looks great but I do not have a long term history of this product. I do not know if you have ever seen my car but the chrome done 20 years ago stills looks like I just unwrapped it.

The finish layer of chrome is only a few thousandths thick, and will not take kindly to repeated use of chrome polish ("polish" is the operative word, as all "polishes" contain abrasives of some sort, where pure "wax" does not). For appearance longevity of chrome, the formula is to use "polish" as infrequently as possible, and after using polish, put three or four coats of high-quality "wax" on it to seal/protect the finish and minimize the need for future use of "polish".
