Carb & common w/ Camaro parts Source

Not sure where CC gets theirs, but I found mine on eBay for a mere $152.50. Correct numbered / dated etc. The guy who sold it is a vintage Camaro dealer. Make sure you get Steve personally, because somehow he can get his hands on stuff the regular counter/phone guys say isn't in inventory. He's a really nice guy to deal with too. He isn't into vettes, so that burden lies on you, but he'll tell you what he's got with no games. Tell him Juliet said Hi. (Nah, no kickbacks or anything like that... he'll probably just get a chuckle out of it is all).

Anyways, that's where I found an unrestored TCS solenoid for a great price with reliable overnight shipping too (unlike the CC saga). The TCS was the same exact part / number / bracket... or so I've been told & the judges agreed.

BTW, not sure about your particular application, but Many of the Q-jets for 70's anyways were also built by Carter for Rochester. They use a letter/number date code instead of the Julian one. For some reason, even though it's well documented in the NCRS manuals many folks overlook these, or assume they're forgeries or not "correct", including some of the "bigger" suppliers who have many $$$ Q-jets. Ha, I recall a lively discussion (with someone who should know better) who insisted that Carter didn't make any Q-jets for 70s. I guess he couldn't handle the fact that a gal might know more than him... he certainly wasn't hearing any of it from me! LOL! Anyways, they're out there, and you can sometimes snag a deal on the Carter built ones. ~Juliet

      Ancient History Lesson

I'll admit my personal experiences with Chicago Corvette Supply revolve around their owner and his distant PAST. Terrys experience is much more current and obviously more positive.

I am guilty here of judging a book by its author and not taking the book at its face value.

Terry has developed a good relationship with these folks and it has been successful for him and helpful to the society, I trust his judgment without question and understand the importance of a one on one business relationship, this is the reason I have such good luck with Ecklers while others seem to suffer with wrong parts and misdirected orders.

It occurred to me , after reading Terrys post , that I am guilty of holding a grudge based only on recollections from ancient experiences and even those injustices did not involve me personally but did leave a very lasting impression.

Has the Tiger changed his stripes, hopefully.

        Re: Ancient History Lesson *TL*

I know that in the distant past some of their employees gave them problems. More recently one of their more skilled employees retired. I suspect they have the same problems most business have nowdays - good help is hard to find.

BTW Jerry - you guys didn't go to Lane Tech did you?

            Chicago Corvette

            Dale,

Apparently you have never purchased one of his restoreed doorstops, er, carburetors. Biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased for my Corvette, and many locals here feel the same about their carbs.

Let the buyer beware. I wouldn't buy a carb there either. Some things you buy elsewhere. I've always got along with Al.

                HYDE PARK HIGH

After acouple of years at South Shore High, Varooom graduated from Hyde Park High many many moons ago! Then it was off to Navy Pier for two years of U of I then downstate for a BS finish. (Been BSin ever since). The entire four years of College was financed by employment as a professional jazz drummer! Would you beleive it? Worked with Pete Fountain at the Priview on Randolph, Bobby Hacket, Edmond Hall, and Louis Armstrong! Bobby Hacket & Ed Hall while at MIT in Boston! Did studio work and worked for many other jazz greats. I hired Chick Corea when he started playing piano for a small side group that I ran. Also used KOZ! Hauled a full set of drums around in a 1959 FI with RPO 684! My first vette!

                SMALL PLANET!

                VAROOOM!
