    Re: Add on...

    David,

It's my 72 chassis posted in that picture above. It has received Top Flights at all 3 judging levels, and has its Bowtie Award with the 5th Star to come in Boston this July. As it sits it is a 96% car by NCRS Flight judging standards without any driving points added.

Keep your car as original as possible. Consider having it judged before you do much work, and use the score and comments as a rough baseline.

    Re: Add on...

    Patrick,

Your contribution of the photo and comments cause me to look at a different approach that I wasn't aware of. While there are some items I do need to address on my car (e.g.- previous owner put in the wrong year seats and eliminated the smog system), I will keep other items unmolested (such as the vacuum hoses with the factory end wraps intact)and other features that represent how original the car is.

I have owned my '69 for over 30 years. I have resisted the temptation to tear it apart and refinish various items. Now I see that I may be able to have a "judgeworthy" car anyway.

Congratulations on your accomplishments with your '72. Best wishes in Boston!

      Re: Add on...

      David,

My post above was not meant to try and show off, but just as an example of "how far" an original car can go. I've thought of trying for a Duntov, but I would have to restore or replace more parts than I'm comfortable with on a car that is this original. So, it sits "as is" and I drive it on occasion. That part is the most fun.

      Remember, they're only original once....

Understood - I took it the way you meant it.

Besides, "It ain't bragging when you can back it up." And, your car does.

        Thanks,
