    Distilled water for radiator

If I understand correctly and as specified by Tom Dewitt (Dewitt's radiators), our Corvettes' alluminum radiators should have only distilled water and anti- freeze added to them. My question is..................will water collected in a dehumidifier serve the same purpose as purchased distilled water? It would seem that it would be the same............... with no added chemicals or minerals. What are your thoughts?

As always, thanks in advance for your help.

    Re: Distilled water for radiator

That'll come close, Rex. There ARE airborne impurities in circulation that would be present in water condensed from the atmosphere, but they should be a LOT lower in concentration than what's present in typical ground water.

Still, most grocery stores sell traditional distilled water as an off-the-shelf item. Here in Denver, it's a whooping 86-cents/gal...

      Yuk!

Even though I empty my dehumidifier bucket daily - usually shortly after I shut it off, there is noticeable debris in the water including what appears to be mold.

There is a lot of dust and debris of various sorts and spores in the air that will end up in the bucket, and I think mold grows in the bucket, because it's always damp. I leave it in the sun for a day or so to fully dry it when I put it away for the season, which is about now. I use it from about December through May, because it's mild, but damp near the ocean in SoCal during the winter and spring.

Distilled water costs about a buck a gallon. Your choice!

I dump my dehumidifier bucket into the toilet and flush it. I certainly would not drink it unless I was dying of thirst, and I don't recommend using dehumidifier effluent in cooling systems either.

Imagine that you're growing mushrooms...........just feed 'em sh*t and keep 'em in the dark.

Actually, a fantastic idea..........and only one that can be concocted by Corvette crazies!!! Just disinfect your collection tank well (use bleach) and don't let the collected water sit for too long.
Why, I collect my air conditioner's condensate to make Kool Aid for the neighborhood children!
Not really......I DO use it to water my tomatoes on the fire escape! Not only that, but I DID stay at a Holiday Inn last night!
