    in search of better fuel

have a 427/390hp 1967 car. Currently run Shell 93octane. Would like to do better. Any thoughts on mixing shell 93 and turbo blue to improve octane and performance. If this is a good idea, and what ratio ?? What is the best octane level to attempt to achieve that is best for the engine ?? Not looking to race the car, just more solid street performance. Thank you, Mike Chase

Re: in search of better fuel

If the engine not is detonating, higher octane fuel will provide NO BENEFIT!

If it is detonating, the first thing to do is check the ignition map relative to spec, and if it's been made more aggressive - like with lighter springs in the centrifugal mechanism, slow it down or reduce the initial timing, but not less than 4 deg. BTDC.

Check out the archives for better spark plugs to use in the BB for non highway driving. My 11:1 factory original 68 small block runs fine on 93.
