    Stock Headlights & Wiring

Since one of headlights was out I figured I'd do some investigation. I have two halogen's (low beam) and two T3 Highbeams (1 burned out). Noticed that even the switch is on low beam, the high beam lights still glow slightly. Further investigation show three prong low beam and two prong high beams. Is this stock or did the previous owner(s) do some sort of modification? I have, temporarily replaced both low beams with 5001 Sylvania Low Beam Halogens. After I sort things out I'll be looking for a set of stock headlamps at Bloomington. Chris

3 Prong is normal setup for lo beams because the low beams use two sets of filaments to alter the beam direction when all four lights are on for high beam application. Current leakage thru an unusedd filament is sometimes indicative of a poor ground

Where does the headlight circuit typically ground to? I don't see any ground wire under front end anywhere. The filaments on both hi beams glow when lo beam is selected. Both hi beams function fine when selected.

The ground is in the wiring harness (black wire) and runs back to a point on the Chassis. The wiring diagram in the service manual should let you trace it.
