I have an early October 65 66 big block. It has the correct early style seatbelts but they are black and the interior is dark blue. Is the black the correct color for an early 66.
I have an Oct assembled 1966 427/425 hp coupe with Dark Blue interior and original seat belts which are also blue, but a little faded and not quite as dark as the interior blue dye.
My '66 convertible is a June car with dark blue interior. My seat belts are original to the car and they (along with the rubber retractor covers) are black. Charlie at Seatbelt Sity cleaned and restored mine and had researched this in the past. Other customers of his with dark blue interiors had black belts. His conclusion was that late 1966 cars with a dark blue interior used black seatbelt material because Chevrolet ran out of dark blue and had discontinued that color. Another owner I know of in the Texas chapter has dark blue belts with black retractor covers indicating Chevrolet ran out of the belt material and covers at different times.
