Re: Coupe pop out rear window and T-Top storage

Didn't mean to imply the plastic was an alternative. It does NOT fit. My brother also has a 69 that I was helping him with. When shopping around, I had three different places assure me that they had correct used part. Two of them sent the short plastic ones which I sent back. The third, I was able to decipher that they were trying to sell me the wrong one over the phone before they sent it. Just trying to relay some of my pain so others will know what to look for.

Many months later I finally found the right part, Ebay I think. It was even better than mine and I was tempted to swap mine for the one I bought him, but I didn't. It sat in his garage for more than a year until he had a fire and burned the house down. The firemen were able to push the Corvette out into the driveway but the tray and a few other small items went up in smoke. I haven't bothered looking for another lately.

Some of these vendors have no idea of the "correctness" of a part. As we all have to do, I learned that the hard way many, many years ago. The primary thought of these questionable vendors is, "What do I need to tell this guy to separate him from that $300 in his jeans, for this piece of junk I have in my possession...it might work for him, or by the time he figures it out I will forget he bought it, or he won't know the difference anyway."

      Good luck in your search.

        Chuck,

Let me assure you that this car has been restored and maintained to stock condition, which I am proud of. I tell my kids that there are so few of these cars I have an obligation to keep it stock.

I stripped and repainted the car to the original Riverside Gold but wanted to set it off a little so I added the ZL-1 stripe using the correct dimensions from the AIM. It is a factory L68 with matching numbers on the engine, trans, rear end and alternator. Changes from the tank sticker are leather interior, aftermarket stereo and power brakes. Everything has been put back on the car with the showroom condition in mind. All the bolts may not have to correct markings but everything else including the emission equipment has been put back on the car.

I'm just now at the point when I would be comfortable getting the car judged for what it is rather than how clean it is (show-n-shines). Got any suggestions for Northern California?

There are tow on E-bay right now one looks like the one in the pictures (which looks like the one in my 70) and the other has the "vent" slots in the form of an "X". I just finished carpeting my 70 and boy was it NOT easy getting at thoes tray screws!!! all is well now, just getting to the door panels and the hardware on the compartment doors. Still trying to figure out the deal with the battery door seal, seems like the other two doors and the perimeter of the frame will leak anyway...?

Nice car. You missed the Northern California Chapter Meet in Calistoga last May 5.

The Northwest Regional will be held September 13-15 in Leavenworth, WA. Sometimes the number of cars being judged is restricted to what can be handled by the facilities and judging staff, so you would need to contact the host chapter's judging chairman ASAP. There's no registration form or info in the Driveline yet, but contact the Northern California Chapter through Joeseph Selva (I'll email you his contact info). You may want the join the local chapter as well as the national organization, but that's your call.

Of course, the first step will be to join up and pay your dues (see tab at the top of the page)...NCRS events only judge members' cars.

              My Mistake...

I was looking at the January/February Driveline. The Northwest Regional NCRS Meet is being hosted by the Northwest Chapter. Send me your email, and I'll fax you the registration form.

OK, I have joined NCRS, paid my dues and as they say, my packet is in the mail. I'll plan on the Konocti Harbour Inn Chapter Meet in September. For now I'll gig a little deeper into the website for local events. If anybody has some Northern California info to send me please do so at:
