    Terrible Vette Wreck

Many say our old cars aren't safe. Here is a 64 that went head on with a Crown Vic Ford and the driver made it out alive. This happened to a good friend of mine on the way to a cruise-in yesterday. Yes, he was wearing his seat belt and did everything he could to miss the car going the wrong way in his lane. I'm sure a full frontal impact would have been fatal. Please pray for his speedy recovery.

            Wayne,

Glad your friend made it out OK.

The photos are very interesting. They appear to have been taken inside a fenced yard. This leads me to believe the cars were moved to this location and placed where they sit. I find it kind of strange that they would be placed in a manner so as to "recreate" an accident scene.

Also find it odd that there is no tire on right rear wheel and the car is resting on a bare wheel on the right front.

I have seen vehicles that were shoved sideways so violently that the tire grip on the pavement had dismounted the tire from the rim. I watched it happen in front of me one day when a Beetle was rear ended while turning left by a full sized station wagon that never slowed prior to the collision. It peeled the R/R tire clean off of the rim in a fraction of a second.

That is absolutely a horrible looking mess. I assume he was alone in the car. A passenger wouldn't have made it for sure. We wish him a full recovery.

I don't believe the silver car in the photo is the crown vic involved in the accident

Yes, he was alone. A passenger would be dead. The wreck knocked the tires off. I also thought it a little strange they got placed as wrecked.

I know there's no positives in a accident such as this.... but given the choice I would take my chances against a newer crown vic vs. the older ones built in the fifties....those things were like tanks on wheels.

i know from working on the doors of some of these cars that there's only about 1/8" of fiberglass between you and whatever hits you. pretty scary.
