    Lemans 2007

GT1 looks quite competitive with three works Aston Martins plus three privateers, two works C6-Rs plus Belgian and Frence C-6R privateers, and another team of French privateers in a C5-R. (Hey, with their new prime minister and all their Corvette Teams I say VIVA LA FRANCE!), two Saleen S7s from Team ORECA and some other privateers - a Ferrari 550M and even a Lamborghini Mucielago from a Japanese team.

The start time has been moved up to 3 PM local Lemans time, and I'll leave it up to each of you to convert to your local time. IIRC it is tricky because Lemans might be on "double daylight saving time".

It looks like the Radio Lemans webcast will also be on the Internet as it has in past years, so you can listen to the race. There should also be live timing and scoring on the web site, too. You can find out everything here:

    Time difference

...missed it at first, but there is a clock on the site with Lemans time, which is 9 hours ahead of PST - guess I'll have to get up pretty early to listen to the start and finish. You guys on the east coast can sleep in.

BTW, there are actually more GT1 than GT2 cars on the grip. Can you believe it!? LMP1 might even be interesting, too, with what looks like some good gasoline powered cars to give the Audi diesels some serious competiton. GT2 looks like another good Porsche-Ferrari-Panoz dog fight.

I can't figure out LMP2 - no Porsche Spyders or Acura/Hondas on the grid.

Hey Jack - if you see this find the Radio LeMans booth and say hi to all the NCRS guys. I'm sure they'd love to put you on the air. A couple of years ago they answered on-air a couple of my questions that I e-mailed in, but the Limeys couldn't pronounce "Redondo".

      Re: Time difference

Duke, here is what I use to find out when something is on the boob tube. It's called TV Planner by Comcast, http://tvplanner.comcast.net/#grid-main--1181614018475 .

      Works for me!

        Re: Time difference

        Duke,

SPEED-TV coverage starts at 8:30 Eastern plus a half hour of qualifying coverage at 8:00 am, I think.

LMP2 is not represented by American LeMans Accuras nor Porsches because the ALMS chose not to go strictly with the ACO's rules, thus they aren't set up for LeMans and apparently chose not to go through the hassle to qualify, or more likely, weren't invited. I believe restrictor sizes were finessed for the ALMS to provide some close racing with the Audis since no other competitive P1's run the ALMS. It works! The Peugot diesels ought to provide some stiff competition for the Audis in P1, if they last. They were fastest on a recent test day with Sebastian Bourdais driving, but the Audis may have been sandbagging. We'll see when they qualify. With sixteen P1's and fifteen GT1's to challenge Audi and Corvette, it should be a great race. All I can say is "Go, Ron!!!"

Yes, the guys of Radio LeMans do a great transmission. They are receptive to every listener. I mailed them several times in the last years, in the name of our local argentine vette club, and got inmediate reply.

The most fascinating thing of radio listening is to recognize the vette crossing the main stands. The typical V8 rumble is music four our ears...
