    Re: C2 Anti Squeek Pads

Here is a photo of the original anti squeak material. Some of it has been removed from the tank.

The material they are selling at the typical vendors is nothing like the original. Vendor sells strips of 30# roofing felt about .020 inch thick.

The original material is about .100 inch thick and has a pattern indented in it.
    PHOTOS of original material:

The width of the material is 1.5 inches at rear. And 2 inches at front

Looks like 90 LB. roofing felt to me. The lines are indicative of that material. If there was such a thing as 120 LB. roofing felt, there may not be much difference between it and the assembly line material.

I went to a commercial roofing company looking for something like this and found nothing close...... Maybe in some other parts of the country.
Finally had to use standard 30# felt glued in multiple layers.

              Re: C2 Same Problem

Had to do the glue method also, the repro's were too wide and too thin. However I used the back side of roof shingle and only needed a few strips of 30# to get the correct thickness.

90# roofing felt is available in rolls 36" wide and some length which I do not know. It should be sold by a lot of lumber yards and building supply establishments. If not found there, one could contact a friendly roofing service and ask them to either seel you a roll or order one for you. You'd probably have to go in person to pick it up as they don't deliver. A roll might be sufficient for 50 to 100 cars.

Personally, I am doing everything possible to salvage the anti-squeek pads from my '69 for reuse with the new fuel tank installation.

                  Re: C2 Anti Squeek Pads

Seeing as how this stuff is readily available in your area, You ought to purchase a roll, cut it and sell it to PARAGON, VOLUNTEER VETTES and LIC.

Why are you "doing everything possible" to salvage the original pads when this stuff is available???

I DID go to my local lumber yard, LOWES, HOME DEPOT, and a commercial roofing company and came up empty.

                    Steve,

I always enjoy a challenge except knowing what ot do with an almost full roll of 90 LB roofing felt. Now, if I had the other 50 to 100 Corvettes in my garage that really needed new anti-squeek pads for their fuel tanks, that would be another thing. Actually, Steve, I'm trying to retain as much originality with my '69 as possible since the decision has not been made whether to restore or see how many stars it will earn. I started my '67 restoration just as there were rumblings regarding the Bowtie award program and rue the fact that I've simply destroyed the originality of a very good car that, may very well, have been a 5-star Bowtie car.

                    Regards,
