    While-I'm-at-it-itis (again)

Well, 3 years ago I picked up a restored original power antenna at Bloomington (nothing but the best for baby! ). My intent was to install the antenna and go for a cruise the following day. That's when a relapse of the dreaded while-I'm-at-it-itis set in, and this time it was a particularly virulent strain of the disease.

While I'm at it, I can replace the gas tank and hardware... Gee, this rear wiring harness really needs to be replaced... While I'm here, might as well replace those pitted tail lights. Since some of the trim is already off, this would be a good time to go ahead and repaint the car... This gas line is pretty rusty, I've gone this far so might as well lift the body and replace gas and brake lines... Oops, broke some body mount bolts, better weld new brackets to the frame...

Well, here it is 3 years later and I finally got that pesky antenna installed! Heading back to Bloomington on Friday, so I hope my immune system holds up this time!

That's funny! I thought I was the only one. Mine started with a small wear spot in the carpet under the gas pedal. Twentyfive years later I have body on one side of the garage and frame on the other. I'm now replacing springs, spindles, kingpins and bearings.

Wow, I guess I only had the 24 week bug because my "seats and carpet" job only turned into complete interior, dash, guages, and rear fiber optics. I guess I got off easy!!!

Beware The Slippery Slope Into The Abyss...

If it hadn't been for the late models I've owned since my restoration started, I would have been Vetteless all these years.

My oil plug repair job has turned into a full front end rebuild.

I've managed, so far, to avoid this "trap" with my '62 Corvette, but find myself periodically sliding down that slippery slope with my '65 HIPO Mustang. I find it help to remind myself that I have the cars because I enjoy driving them!

This particular strain or virus (doctors are still trying to determine when and where this bug entered the country) has infected so many over the past ten years that they don't dare put it in the medical journals for fear it would make the whole medical industry look very bad. The symptoms are generally the same from victim to victim...a desire/obsession to do things that don't have to be done....a severe touch of perfectionism....a hopeless feeling of did I do the right thing or use the right part....the guilty feeling that I could have taken my family on that Disney vacation with the money I put into this thing....things usually take a turn for the better once you reach the stage when you say to yourself "MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BANK ACCOUNT"
