I have a 67 427 coupe built Nov 66 and when I took the motor apart there was no capacitor on the coil and there was no threads in the coil bracket. The judging manual states one shoud be there but the assembly manual shows that the L36 capacitor AIM was not added till March of 67. Just trying to get an opinion.

Re: 1967 427 Coil Capacitor
My AIM for 67 says the L36 Drawing was added. The capacitor was called out under item 5 which doesn't appear to be an addition. Looks like you need a capacitor to satisfy the AIM and judging- Top

If you'll look in the "Big-Block Mechanical" section, Item #10 "Ignition System", "Ignition Coil, Mounting and Capacitor", sub-paragraph "Capacitor" on page 108, you'll find: "Cars optioned with K-66 do not have a capacitor".- Top
