Hello all,
I am looking for some info on the correct configuration on the fan shroud seal on my 65 350 hp a/c coupe.
I am replaceing the radiator, hoses seals etc.. I ordered a lower shroud seal from paragon and went to put it on and discovered that there were no holes from the staples for the old seal. I belive that this is the original shroud, because I have known the previous owner for 30 years and the car was never wrecked until he did so in about 1987. I don't think he replaced the Shroud at that time because it has traces of undercoating on the bottom and runs in the paint that look like factory dip painting. I do not think that He would have put undercoating on the shroud. Does anyone know if there were cars produced without this lower seal installed? I could not find any reference to this in the AIM. I looked because I thought thast maybe for some reason with A/C this seal was not used. I am debating about weather or not I should add the seal and the staples. Also The Seal I recieved from Paragon has instructions that say the curved edge should go to the back of the car but it fits the shroud much better if the curved edge is against the shroud. And there are no dimensions given as to how much the shroud should overlap and where the staples go and so forth. Could someone please send me pictures of an original shroud and seal? And if anyone has dimensions on the overlap and staple placements I would really appreciate that info as well. THanks in advance for your help.
