    '67 Shocks

Hi, On standard shocks (front & rear) are the rubber grommets installed before the shocks are painted gray and thus would also be painted or were the grommets installed after paint and remain natural black rubber in color ?

Thanks for your time and responses,
    dm

    Dave-----

On PRODUCTION front shocks, the lower rubber bushing (with bracket) was installed at the factory and was painted with the shock. The upper bushings were installed at St. Louis and, so, were not painted.

On PRODUCTION rear shocks, the upper bushing (and inner tubular retainer) was installed at the time of manufacture and was painted with the shock. The lower bushings were installed at St. Louis and were un-painted.

By the way, SERVICE rear shocks usually had a one piece lower bushing installed at the manufacturing plant and it was painted with the shocks.
