    C2:67 Power steering problems

Noticed this last week that everytime I pulled into a parking spot, I left a trail of steering fluid. So I figured I had a leak in one of the power steering lines.

Trying to troubleshoot it today, looks like the leak is coming from the end of the ram or one of the connections to the ram. Tightened up the connections, but no cigar.

What's the usual problem, is it the ram seal? What's the fix. Is there any sealant one can add to the steering fluid.

The power steering is a repro add-on kit put on about 5 years ago on my 67 SB.
    No problems until now.

    Jerry,

There is a kit you can get and install for the ram without too much trouble.....I found doing that a lot easier than my first plating job! Dr Rebuild, Zip, etc sells them.

On older rams the shaft will wear in it's centered position so the seal kit may or may not be the answer but if your ram is only a few years old you should be okay.

You can probably get a "seal in a can" fix for it but what I think they do is swell up the seals short term so that when they fail down the road, they really fail. Good for a car you want to sell but I wouldn't do it for a keeper.
