How hot does it get? If it's a PG try throwing it in neutral and picking up the RPMS a bit when sitting still.Same with a 3 or 4 spd. Back off the car in front so you're not getting his hot exhaust. What's your timming set at?

My '57 gets hot during parades, even with a rebuilt radiator. It has an original 4 blade fan. Make sure the temp guage is somewhat accurate. You may not have an abnormal situation.

My 57 uses the stock fan and I have no problems at all. The temp runs 180 to 185 degrees.

Is your block clean and free from rust etc in the cooling gallerys ? Rad overfilled ? Temp gauge accurate ?

My 57 show a high temp reading once and it turned out to be a bad dash ground.

My 60 does the same thing. It runs under 180 as long as I'm moving. As soon as I sit still it goes up. It would overheat if I didn't move. Radiator was reconditioned and tested ok and all else is new. I need to have it tested to see how accurate the gauge really is. It seems like it's running warmer then the gauge indicates. I may consider an electic fan just for special occasions. I have never had problems with normal driving.
