    Re: wider tire and rims

    Paul -

I think your "muddy the waters" phrase is appropriate. There's a lot of confusing and conflicting info regarding AR TTxs. I've only known about TTOs, TTDs and TTD2s, with the latter two types made to fit disk brakes. I think your suggestion about consulting with AR is also appropriate given your inputs.

From what I've gleaned, TTDs and TTD2s both have the curved spokes while TTOs do not. I think there's also a difference in the spoke shape with TTOs having a more defined radial ridge while the others are curved. I'm not certain that any of this is correct.

I bought my '64 knowing that I wanted a NOM vehicle so that I could modify without feeling guilty. My coupe does have vette disks (later '70s) on all corners and a whole host of other driveline mods to produce a true cruiser with freeway capabilities. The coupe looks stock otherwise. Since I've painted my calipers (looks like you did too), I want to display them and TTDs (or TTD2s) would do that well while adding to vehicle safety over the knockoffs that are currently on the car. The first pix you supplied illustrates how well the AR rims enhance the car's looks.

      Don,
In my experience the NCRS folks here appreciate/tolerate a clean if not "correct" car. Many have them. Here is mine last Sunday on a local 2007 dash plaque. Obviously I would never go to an NCRS meet with this but it is a pretty car. And my interpretation of what a 1967 should be. For the purists, the ralley wheels with trim rings are in the basement. SB hood also. Part of the sale.

          Paul -
I started out to restore a 1956 vette I also have and commenced buying whatever it needed down to the correct bolts, etc. It wasn't very long before I found doing this to be exceedingly expensive and gave up on the 'purist' approach. I'm glad I did since the old vette could never really be restored to original without a huge cash outlay to even include an appropriate frame instead of the '59 that under the body now. However, the car is fun, fun, fun to drive and show off at show-n-shines... which makes the four+ years of continuing work on it worthwhile. Anyway, I'm happy to be tolerated by those that are pure in thought and practice.
