Well, spent the first hot day on my new comfort weave seats in the 70 coupe NO AC. Did comfort weave really mean "make your back and bottom sweat"??? with the windows down and t-tops off and rear window stowed, really tot that bad in the hot sun, but my back was soaked in sweat. I thought there would be better breathing back there, but I guess not. I'll keep hunting for a midyear driver coupe with AC...

Jim,
Original covers or reproductions?
I find that most (all?) repros don't have the same perforations as the originals, and you sweat a lot more.

Re: C-3 1970 Comfort weave seats
I've got one car with repro covers, one with originals. There is vast difference in comfort on a hot day. If you ever hold a set of each (off the seat) up to the sun, you'll see what I mean about "no holes" or perforations in the repro ones. VERY little air is flowing through those repro covers.
Just another repro part that isn't like the originals.

Re: C-3 1970 Comfort weave seats
Patrick-----
The original "Comfortweave" was a true woven fabric; the "fibers" were just vinyl instead of cloth. So, it breathed just like a woven fabric. I believe that the reproductions are "monolithic" with a woven pattern.
There are a few advantages to the reproduction style material. First, sweat does not permeate down into the under-pad, eventually rotting it. Second, and as a result of the aforementioned, the dreaded "perpetual dust" does not affect the car's interior. Those are real benefits.
As far as the sweating goes, most cars of the period used vinyl seats that were "monolithic" vinyl, with no pretense, at all, to "breathability". So, the vast majority of folks who drove those cars once-upon-a-time had to endure exactly what folks with Corvettes and repro seat covers endure today.
My solution is to use seat-savers (cloth, easy on-and-off seat covers) and a folded terrycloth towel between the seat saver and the seat.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
